I have written this article as a review of T. Harv Eker's book named The Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind. I am a huge fan of this book because I related to T. Harv Eker's story so well. Harv says that in order to achieve success in any business you must first have the right mindset. At the age of 24, Eker had tried just about everything to become successful.

He had all of the technical knowledge, he worked hard, and he even had some great training. Even though Eker was knowledgeable about making money, he never seemed to attract it. After a lot of trial and error Harv was finally taught that he had to change his thoughts about money before he could ever attract and hold on to money in his life.

"It is not enough to be in the right place at the right time. You've got to be in the correct place at the correct time while being in the right mindstate." T. Harv Eker

This quote I got from the book is brilliant because so many people credit others success to being in the right place at the right time. The fact is that in order to take advantage of timing you must be the right person, or you must have the correct mindset.

The truth of the matter is once you get your mind right, good timing will happen for you too. To go a step further Harv states, Your income can only grow to the extent you do. When you realize this truth then you can take your focus away from seeking "turn key" opportunities and place your attention on personal growth and correct mindset principals.

If you are thinking thoughts of scarcity and lack, then quite frankly, it doesn't matter what opportunity or business you are in. There are many great businesses and opportunities out there, but unless you change your core thoughts and feelings about money, you will not experience any different results.

So What Are Your Thoughts About Money?

In the book Harv encourages everyone reading to write down all of the things they were taught concerning money. I almost always skip over these little exercises, but this time I went ahead and tried it. So I took out a notepad and began to write down everything that my parents and sphere of influence taught me about money. When I began writing I was absolutely amazed at all of the negative things I was taught about money! I ended up with two pages of negativity and wrong ideas about money. These beliefs will continue to go through generations until one person decides to challenge the beliefs.

Take Responsibility

If you were raised with negative beliefs concerning money or whatever else, you have to accept that and take responsibility for changing these negative beliefs. "There is no such thing as a really rich victim.

It is true, you will never find a rich victim. Rich or successful people take 100% responsibility for lives and their actions. If you aren't happy with where you are in life, look no where else but the mirror because that is the person who is responsible.

If you make a habit of bettering yourself everyday, then one day you will wake up and realize you are stronger than you ever imagined. If you haven't read this book yet, then you should definitely put it at the top of your To Do list.

Duplicate Bridge Scoring

Learning how to score at bridge makes it easier to understand the bridge bidding system. Once you know how to score you will understand why it is better to play in hearts/spades/NT than diamonds or clubs and why players will continue bidding to the 4, 5, 6 or even 7 level instead of stopping at the 3 or 4 level.

Let's start with the absolute basics.

No points are scored for the first 6 tricks. A contract for 1 of a suit (or 1NT) means you think you will make 7 tricks (6 + 1 bid). A contract for 4 of a suit means you think you will make 10 tricks (6 + 4 bid). High Card Points = points score for cards held. Four for each ace, three for each king, two or each queen and one for each jack. A "game" contract is one that would score 100 points if achieved. If you achieve (or exceed) the contract you score a 300 point bonus. A part score contract is one that would score less than 100 points if achieved. If you achieve the contract you score a 50 point bonus. If you bid a part score but actually make enough tricks for game you will ONLY get the part score bonus as that is what you bid for.

Points scored per trick (above 6) = 20 per club/diamond, 30 per heart/spade. In a No Trumps contract score 40 for the FIRST trick and 30 for subsequent tricks

No of tricks needed to make "game" = 11 in clubs/diamonds, 10 in hearts/spades and 9 in No trumps

Minimum contract needed to score game = 5 clubs or diamonds, 4 hearts or spades and 3 No trumps

High Card Points needed for game = 27 for a minor suit, 25 for a major suit contract or NT contract

If you fail to make the contract you bid for, your opponents score 50 points for each trick you failed by. So, if you bid 3 of a suit (bid to make 9 tricks) and only make 7 tricks your opponents score 50 points for each of the two tricks you failed to make (100 points in total)

Doubling If you think that your opponents are unlikely to achieve the contract they are bidding for you can "double". This means that your side will score double the points for each trick the opponents go down by, but also means they will score double the points for each trick if they make the contract. They will also score an extra bonus of 50 points for achieving the contract.

If the opponents are certain that they WILL make their contract they can "redouble". In this case they will score 4 times the usual point value for each trick made if they achieve the contract, plus a 100 point extra bonus.

Vulnerability To add a little extra "spice" to the scoring one, or both sides become "vulnerable". This rotates between neither side vulnerable, E-W vulnerable, N-S vulnerable and both side vulnerable. If your side is vulnerable and you fail to make a contract then your opponents score DOUBLE the number of points for each trick you fail by.

If your side is vulnerable and bid for and achieve game, then your game bonus is increased.

No increase for part score - 50 points scored

Game score - bonus increased from 300 to 500 points if vulnerable

Slams

There are two types of slams. A small slam (12 tricks) and a grand slam (all 13 tricks). You only score an additional bonus for these if you bid to make them.

So, if you bid a contract of 3 hearts (to win 9 tricks) but actually win all thirteen tricks, you will just score the regular game bonus and won't score the additional grand slam bonus. You will only score the additional small or grand slam bonus if you bid to win 12/13 tricks (6 or 7 of a suit).

If you bid and make a small slam you will score an additional 500 point bonus (or 750 if vulnerable)

If you bid and make a grand slam you will score an additional 100 point bonus (or 1500 if vulnerable)

Both of these are in addition to the regular game bonus.

Now you can experiment with more drops, but let it cook a bit first! Good for liquids and sauces! (This stuff is not just for making Mexican and spicy dishes, it will work in a white sauce that just needs a little flavor boost!)

Crushed Red Pepper - see above - but for things that are not as "liquid" In this medium we are going for a DASH!

Garlic Powder - not garlic salt...need I say more?

Onion Powder - ditto my darlings!

Italian Seasoning and/or Basil, Oregano, Parsley - Great to put on skinless boneless chicken or any other type of meat, to bake up with a good Italian flavor

Grill Seasoning - same principle as above, different flavor!

Lemon juice - great on baked or broiled fish - with some buttery spray for the great taste and no extra points!

Different vinegar flavors - apple cider, red wine, white wine, balsamic and plain old white! Vinegar helps tenderize meat!

Rosemary - great Italian flavor, try a little in your veggie lasagna to give it a more authentic flavor!

Cumin - anytime you want that Mexican flavor - Cumin is your friend! Throw a little in your eggbeaters for a little Southwest Breakfast!

Paprika - gives things a little smoky flavor (very mild you can use it just for color, if you baking chicken or fish and it just looks too white and unappetizing!)

Have fun and don't be afraid to experiment a little! Like Real Estate, but instead of location, location, location we are looking for flavor, flavor, flavor!!

A Quick Tip To Reduce Hand And Wrist Pain - For Roughly A Penny!

One of the problems a lot of weight trainees encounter is hand cramping and wrist pain due to gripping the bar over the years. If a particular weight trainee also works in front of a computer using a traditional mouse then the problem can be exacerbated. While Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and comparable conditions warrant prompt medical attention, here is one trick which may help relieve some of the pain while you are at home or at the office.

Before starting, make a fist right now and feel the muscle which contracts in your forearm. Do the same thing with gripping a baseball bat, using your computer's mouse, typing, using lawn tools, or lifting heavy objects. You will notice that the same muscle is working all the time. Also notice that the muscles near the back side of your forearm/elbow area are getting minimal work. This overuse can intensify any conditions you have.

Here is something you can do today: take a thick rubber band (which costs about a penny) which you would get at any office supply store. Pinch your fingers together and put the rubber band around your fingertips in a manner which is rather loose. SLOWLY expand your fingers to the point where you feel the back side of your forearm muscles getting some work. If you do this a few times at your computer, at home, at the office, etc. you may start to feel lessened pain in the forearm area. Over time you will notice more of a balance between the muscle groups in your forearm and, hopefully, lessened pain.

If this causes pain, cease it immediately. Marketing Tips For Actors - Whatever it Takes!

My very worse client...ever...became one of my biggest successes! Is he a movie star? Yes! Is he a household name? Almost! Is he Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise-close! No. But I respect his privacy as I do with all my clients so he shall remain anonymous...for now.

When an actor requests an interview for the opportunity to work with me as a Career Coaching client, I always require a headshot and resume first. Is this person serious about their career? I ask. Do they have marketing tools? training? talent? Do I want to spend months of my time helping them?

Jason didn't have any of the above. He had one quality, PERSISTENCE. Even without the requisite resume/headshot he called and pleaded about 20 times tricking my assistant to get through to me on the phone until I gave him an appointment. We met. It was scary. He carried enough weapons to set off alarms in any high rise building in NYC, except mine obviously. He seemed young and enthusiastic but totally ignorant of what an acting career entailed. But the scary part was-He lived almost on the street. He said he had just quit his "gang" but had scars and tattoos all over his face, neck, bald head, hands...well, it was fascinating! It was hard to understand what he was saying except when he said "my dream-acting career-movies". Those were almost the only words I could understand.

After we met and spoke, I gave him a list of things to do. I told him to take 6 months and complete everything on the list or not come back.

These were the things on Jason's list:

Get into an acting class or two, Get speech training, Get a headshot, Get cast in a few off-off b'way plays to build a resume and credits, Lose about 40 pounds-too much pizza and beer, I thought Grow in his hair-he had a young boyish face and was only 18 but looked 28 with the bald head and the weight Get some kind of wardrobe other than army guerrilla fatigues and a blood- stained t-shirt... Work on his incomprehensible accent.

He was almost impossible to understand and I don't mean mumbling like the charming Sylvester Stallone- I mean, impossible to understand more than one or two words in a sentence. And the guy wants to be an actor? A communicator?

"If you do all these things, you can come back and we'll talk," I told him. He answered with confidence, "Whatever it takes!" That I understood.

I thought if I wrote out all these requests he'd re-consider acting as a career or just go away. But, no. He came back in 6 months.

His hair was grown in, no tattoos-ANYWHERE! He had them removed. That must have been difficult or painful!

He was wearing a Ralph Lauren blue oxford shirt and khakis, expensive designer shoes and an Armani jacket. He had a resume which stated he had studied with 4 of New York's most respected acting teachers. He must have been in class 7 days a week. And he must have spent thousands on voice and speech training. Must have. I could understand what he was saying. He sounded almost like an actor from the Royal Shakespeare Company. He looked like he was about to enter Harvard. I was stunned. This was a guy from the streets who'd been in knife fights and a gang when he last had shown up for an interview.

How did you do it, Jason? He just laughed gleefully. He knew I was impressed. "Whatever it takes! He said. I calculated that he must have spent at least $10-20,000 in the last 6 months. God knows where and how he got the funds. I didn't ask.

"Now, can I be your client?" He asked. He did his monologue for me. He did 5 monologues-one was with an Italian accent; one was Shakespeare...he was excellent. And he was funny-he could do comedy. I laughed and I actually cried. I was so touched that he did all that. And I was impressed. He really wants to fulfill his dream.

"You can be my client," I said." How much? I'll pay you...whatever it takes!" For FREE, I said...you deserve it. I'll go to work for you."

And we did. We wrote scripts for him and shot a demo reel-in 3 very different challenging roles. He was brilliant in each. He must have taken an on-camera class as well. I sent him to our photographer for current headshots. I introduced him to agents and managers at the LA Marathon, which he attended a month later. He got something like 12 offers for representation with major agents and we had to decide with whom he would sign. He got a film within 2 weeks -his screen test blew them away and then another film role and another. This was about 4 years ago. He appeared as a guest star in a few top TV primetime shows-always unbelievably good.

But just a few weeks ago I saw him at a preview screening of a film he's in. "Jason...it's amazing...what you've done!" Congratulations! I said. "Thanks...only with your help!" he said.

What can I tell my other clients about you? What do you want me to say to them? He laughed and mumbled,"smvlsmvmnvfmm!"

What? I couldn't understand him-it was the way he used to speak. He was putting me on...and laughing.

"Whatever it takes!" He winked and walked on. The press scurried to follow as did fans seeking his autograph.

So, I tell my current clients...if Jason can do it...what excuse do you have?

The start of a new workweek approaching is to me is the start of another week driving and sharing the highways and city streets with motorists who show little regard for their personal safety in many cases pertaining to traffic. Lack of knowledge because most automobile motorist have never been behind the wheel of a tractor trailer, they would be surprised to know that today's newer tractor-trailers are well equipped as far as their functionality. They are loaded with many of the same features, such as cruise control, that the average car has. The drivers love it, so their desire is to get out of the congested traffic and back on the open road to slap on the cruise control again. As we will cover later it takes a little more time to stop a tractor trailer than it does with your normal 4 wheel vehicle because, when you apply the brakes to your auto, the brake line is already charged up with fluid, the big truck on the other hand is charged by air, and thus it has a little slower reaction time.

It is unlikely that with the increase of traffic all accidents between tractor-trailers and other motorist will be eliminated because many factors come into play with every accident. It's important for you to remember that when in motion the tractor-trailer driver tries to leaves enough room between his/her truck and the 4 wheeler in front of their vehicle for safety reasons not because the truck is slow, it's because it takes more time to stop the truck safely. As you drive along side of a tractor-trailer when the truck is coming to a stop avoid making quick lane changes to get in front of the tractor-trailer just because there is an empty space, one reason that space may have been created by the truck driver is for the safety of the vehicle in front of the tractor-trailer.
